Vision Institute of Costa Rica Interview

By Interviewer at 12/05/09 18:48

Name of your website?

Vision Institute of Costa Rica

Your name?

Dr Adrian Rubinstein

Your Location (city, etc)

CIMA Hospital, San Jose

Short Summary of website?

Offering state of the art cataract and retinal surgery. Diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration.

What inspired you to launch your own website?

I wanted to attract people in the USA, Canada and Costa Rica looking for an English speaking and highly trained eye surgeon. The fact that the prices are up to 70% cheaper in Costa Rica than in the USA makes it financially viable for people to come over and have the operation and then recuperate in beautiful Costa Rica.

When did you launch your first website, and what was it?

Only recently as I have been working for the past 15 years in Oxford as an eye surgeon after qualifying from Oxford University.

How did you decide on a name for your website?

EyeSurgery.cr is the most appropriate website name I could think of.

What makes your website different from other, similar offerings?

I feel the website is profesionally laid out with my main skillset in operating on cataracts and retinal problems, macular degeneration and diabetic eye disease. We also provide LASIK procedures of course.

What is your eventual goal? (To sell it, keep it for income, secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)

Maintain the website.

How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?

The higher the investment of time and money brings success, this is the general way of the business world.

If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?

I like the site as it is, the only budget I would need to increase would be marketing.

If your site got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?

I would be delighted and quite able to cope.

What unexpected costs and headaches have you had to deal with?

Nothing unexpected as I have been an eye surgeon for 15 years.

What has been your biggest challenge?

Translating the website into Spanish as my English is better nowadays.

What method has been most successful for promoting your website?

Google adwords

How has running your website differed from your expectations?

No, I have been very involved in every aspect of it and I am very pleased with the results.

How long have you run the site already, and how long will you continue to keep it up if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?

About 2 months and will keep in indefinitely.

What is your website address?
